Overview
Blue Hill Country Club is a private family club in Canton, Massachusetts, about 15 minutes from Boston. It has been part of the local golf scene for nearly a century and has 27 holes: the 18-hole Championship Course and the nine-hole Challenger Course.
The Championship Course plays to par 72 for both men and women and runs from 6,646 yards off the Black tees down to 5,388 off the Reds, so five sets of tees cover everyone from strong players to beginners. The club’s own hole guide describes a layout that opens with three demanding par 4s of more than 400 yards from the back, then mixes in short, well-bunkered par 4s and small, sloping greens that make approach play the key skill.
Off the course, Blue Hill is set up for families: a heated swimming pool, practice facilities, a clubhouse dining room, and a poolside patio and terrace. It also hosts weddings, outings and corporate events in its function rooms.

History & highlights
Blue Hill hosted the 1956 PGA Championship, and over the years it has also staged LPGA events and many Massachusetts Golf Association qualifiers and championships.
A 431-yard par 4 to a large, raised green that falls away on every side. Come up short and the ball can roll 20 to 30 yards back down the slope.
Up to 198 yards from the back tees, to a big green that slopes away at the front and back right, which makes for some tough pin positions.
A downhill tee shot to a very small green that slopes from back to front and has bunkers on both sides. Front pins are especially hard.
482 yards from the Blacks. Low handicappers can go for it in two, but a deep bunker guards the front right and a steep run-off waits on the left.
Tips for first-timers
- On the 2nd, take enough club: anything short rolls well back down the slope.
- Play below the hole on the 16th, where the green slopes hard from back to front.
- The 17th is a birdie chance: a well-placed drive leaves 120 to 150 yards into a big, fairly flat green.
- Guests should check the clubhouse dress and dining arrangements with their host member before the round.
Map & location
