Stableford gives points for each hole instead of counting every stroke, so one bad hole doesn’t ruin your round. First, your handicap strokes are shared out by stroke index: with a playing handicap of 18 you get one stroke on every hole; with 24 you get two strokes on the six hardest holes (stroke index 1 to 6) and one on the rest.
Then each hole is scored on your net score (gross minus strokes received): net double bogey or worse = 0, net bogey = 1, net par = 2, net birdie = 3, net eagle = 4, and so on. A good round is usually 36 points or more, which means you played to your handicap.
