Overview
Burnaby Mountain is the City of Burnaby’s main 18-hole public course in north Burnaby, and one of the most popular places to play in the Lower Mainland. It plays to par 72 and measures roughly 5,800 to 6,400 yards depending on the tees, so it works for novices as well as low handicappers.
The layout follows natural, tree-lined fairways over gently rolling ground. The front nine opens with two par 5s and has water in front of the 3rd green; the middle of the round brings a run of long, demanding par 4s, including a creek down the right of the 8th and a 10th that regulars say plays more like a par 4½.
It is also one of the best-equipped public facilities in the area. The driving range is open to the public seven days a week until late evening, with heated lower stalls in winter, misters in summer, lights and Trackman technology. A full pro shop, rentals, lessons from PGA of Canada professionals and a clubhouse with a patio complete the set-up.

History & highlights
A long par 5 with a pond guarding the green. Laying up short of the water with two solid shots is the smart play, then watch out for the downhill lie on the approach.
The first of four tough par 4s, with a creek down the right side and trees on the left. If you miss the fairway, chip back out.
A wide fairway and a fairly open green make this the place to hit driver. Out of bounds is on the left.
Tips for first-timers
- Take at least one extra club on the uphill par 3s at 4 and 6; most players come up short.
- On the 2nd, club down for the downhill approach, as there is little room to recover over the green.
- Book four days or less ahead to avoid the advance booking fee.
- After 7 pm, buckets and club rentals are paid at the driving range pro shop, by card only.
- Try twilight or sunset rates for the cheapest full-course golf.
