Overview
Worcester Golf Club sits in the foothills of the Brandwacht Mountains in the Western Cape, with a panoramic view over Worcester and the Breede River Valley. The club describes the Championship course as challenging, one that rewards daring shots but can punish bad ones, with large bentgrass greens and a landscape of Karoo rock softened by indigenous trees, dams and watercourses.
The course was officially opened on 30 April 1988. It is par 72, with the front nine playing 3,021 metres and the back nine 3,002 metres by the club's hole-by-hole guide, adding up to 6,023 metres. Par 5s are the fifth, eighth, sixteenth and eighteenth holes, and the par 3s are the seventh, ninth, fourteenth and seventeenth.
Visitors pay R480 for 18 holes or R295 for 9, students R340 or R215, and scholars R270 or R185. Reciprocity players from other clubs pay R270 for 18 holes or R185 for 9, and members pay R270 or R180. Clubhouse facilities include a pro shop, a bar and a halfway house, and the club can host functions for up to 160 guests.
The Breede River Valley around the club is known for wine cellars, restaurants and accommodation, which the club recommends as a destination in its own right.
