Overview

Las Vegas Country Club opened in 1967 and has grown up alongside the city, a few moments from the Strip. Over nearly six decades it has hosted members, touring pros, entertainers and business leaders, and it is now owned by Samick Holdings, which is investing in a modern club while keeping its vintage Vegas character. As well as golf, the club offers racquet sports, a fitness centre, a member lounge and dining with an old-school glamour feel.

The championship course is par 72 and stretches to 7,203 yards. Edmund B. Ault laid it out originally, and Ron Garl and Mark Rathert later refined it to suit the modern game without losing its character. Mature trees line the fairways, lakes come into play on several holes, the greens are strategic, and the city skyline is a constant backdrop. A range of tees, from the Black championship tees down to the Silver and Bronze, lets players of different abilities choose a sensible length.

The golf programme includes practice facilities and instruction, men's and women's golf groups, junior golf, a full calendar of club tournaments, and corporate and charity golf outings. The golf shop has been recognised as Southern Nevada's top private golf shop and stocks club-branded apparel and the latest equipment. The clubhouse also hosts private dining and events, from weddings and rehearsal dinners to corporate meetings and post-tournament receptions.

History & highlights

Gene Sarazen praised the course in its early years, and it was once a host of the PGA Tour's Las Vegas Invitational. More recently it has staged LIV Golf competition, which keeps it among the best-known golf addresses in the city.

Hole 1: skyline opener

A tree-framed par 4 with the Las Vegas skyline in the distance. A well-placed tee shot opens up the best angle to the green.

Hole 6: risk-and-reward par 5

Strong striking creates a chance to attack, but water and bunkers around the green punish a miss.

Hole 11: the toughest par 4

The club regards it as one of its hardest holes, needing length and accuracy with hazards shaping every shot.

Hole 17: signature par 3

A dramatic one-shotter over water where wind can change the club choice. Commit to the swing; there is nowhere to bail out.
