Overview
TPC Las Vegas, known as TPC at The Canyons until it was renamed, opened in 1996 in the Summerlin area on the west side of the city. It belongs to the PGA TOUR's TPC Network, alongside clubs such as TPC Sawgrass and TPC Scottsdale, yet unlike most of them it takes public tee times. Bobby Weed designed the par-71 course with World Golf Hall of Famer Raymond Floyd, and the club sums up the style as "desert elegance": green fairways threading through arroyos and barrancas, with Red Rock Canyon as the backdrop.
The course plays 7,016 yards from the tips, but the thin air helps. At between 2,000 and 2,500 feet above sea level, the ball carries roughly 7-10 yards further than at sea level. On the greens, putts tend to run away from the mountains, and almost everything breaks towards the Stratosphere Resort and Casino on the skyline. A blended Blue/White tee is offered so mid-handicappers can play around 6,221 yards with fewer forced carries.
The clubhouse offers PGA TOUR-standard service, an award-winning golf shop and event hosting. Nelly's Kitchen serves Southwest-inspired food with views of Red Rock Canyon and the 18th fairway, including a selection of PGA TOUR wines, and is open from sunrise to sunset. There is also The Player's Club, a membership with course privileges.

History & highlights
From 1996-2006 TPC Las Vegas hosted PGA TOUR and senior events: the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, the Bard Capital Challenge and the Las Vegas Senior Classic. John Daly, Hale Irwin and Jim Furyk are among the major winners who have played it. It has a four-star rating in Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play", was named one of Golf Digest's 50 best courses in North America for service, and won the 2013 Silver State Award as the best course in Nevada.
A 423-yard par 4 and the hole the club says best sums up the course, with real risk and reward on every shot.
A 465-yard par 4 starting with a blind tee shot aimed at a distant church steeple. A ridge runs down the fairway: finish right and you have about 100 yards in, finish left and it is more like 125 to 175 over the ridge.
