Overview
TPC Summerlin is the private PGA TOUR club at the centre of Summerlin, the Howard Hughes Corporation's 22,500 acre master-planned community on the west side of Las Vegas. It is the city's annual home of a PGA TOUR event, the Shriners Children's Open, and the course where Tiger Woods won for the first time as a professional. Golf Digest has listed it among America's best golf courses, and Nevada Business Magazine named it the top private course in Nevada in 2006.
Bobby Weed designed the par-72, 7,243-yard course, with Fuzzy Zoeller acting as player consultant. It winds through arroyos and canyons, with bentgrass greens, water features and plenty of honey mesquite and pine trees set against untouched desert washes. Five sets of tees on every hole let golfers of all abilities enjoy a layout that also tests tour players. TPC Summerlin was the first course in Nevada to be certified by Audubon International in its Cooperative Sanctuary System, and care was taken during construction to protect wildlife habitat. In Golf World's 2012 ranking of TOUR venues, players rated it No. 39.
The Southwestern-style clubhouse covers 36,000 square feet and includes a members' lounge, casual and formal dining rooms, banquet space with views of the course, a private meeting room and full locker rooms with complimentary lockers. Dining choices include The Players' Pub, the Summerlin Dining Room, a Patio Grill and a Poolside Café. There are five lighted tennis courts, a Junior Olympic swimming pool, a splash pad and a spa, and the golf shop has been listed among Golf World Business's Top 100 Golf Shops in the U.S.
The 12 acre practice facility has an all-grass tee and landing area, two wedge-play areas and a 10,000 square foot putting green. PGA professionals offer private and group lessons with video swing analysis and custom club fitting.

History & highlights
About 320 yards, so most players go for the green. A miss leaves a hard up-and-down to a raised, rolling green ringed by five bunkers.
Mostly downhill and reachable in two, but water sits short of the green and bunkers wait behind it. Big swings in score happen here.
180 to 210 yards depending on the pin, with a lake tight on the left and bunkers right. Par is a good score.
A 450-yard right-to-left hole with a lake guarding the left of the green. A bold drive leaves a short iron into a very deep green.
Tips for first-timers
- Head to the bag drop first; the attendant will put your clubs on a cart before you check in.
- Practice balls are set out at the range stations, and you can use the chipping and putting green before and after your round.
- On the 17th, take enough club and favour the right side, away from the lake.
- Replace divots and repair ball marks: the club asks guests to help keep its TPC conditioning.
