Overview
Lippischer Golfclub plays across a high valley at Blomberg-Cappel in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region, between the Teutoburg Forest and the Weser Uplands and close to two well-known local landmarks, the Hermannsdenkmal and the Externsteine rocks. The 18-hole, par-72 course is laid out like a park and the club takes pride in its excellent upkeep.
The layout fits neatly into the rolling Lippe hills. Its defining features are tricky sloping lies, mature trees, water hazards and patches of natural habitat left untouched. As you play, your eye is drawn by a huge oak said to be 1,000 years old, by high woodland, by farmsteads across the valley, by the banks of a lively stream and by clearings in the forest. The holes vary a lot, and the club describes the course as a fair challenge for beginners and experienced handicap players alike.
Practice facilities include a driving range, a wedge range, a practice bunker, a chipping green and a putting green, and there is a golf school on site. The clubhouse has changing rooms, a conference room, a restaurant and a terrace. The pro shop beside the clubhouse has been run privately by the Lauermann family for more than 30 years. It works with Callaway, Ping and Titleist, holds several fitting days each season, offers free club advice, repairs clubs and sells and services electric trolleys.
Travelling golfers in a motorhome can book a pitch at the club, but only together with a green fee and through the office. The pitches have no electric hook-up.

Good to know
Members of German and foreign golf clubs are welcome as long as their handicap index is 54.0 or better. You must request a reservation first, by phone or through the contact form, and show your club card at the office. On Mondays guests can only play or use the range with a member. Official page ↗
Ask for a reservation by phone on +49 5236 459 or through the website. Between 8 am and 6 pm a booked start time is also needed at the 10th tee, made via the Albatros app or by phone. Official page ↗
The office is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 4 pm. Outside those hours, green fee tickets are in a stand to the left of the office door. The driving range opens from 8.30 am most days. On Mondays both the restaurant and the office are closed, so there are no showers that day.
The course sits in a high valley with demanding sloping lies, so expect plenty of up and down. Electric buggies and trolleys can be hired. Dogs are not allowed.
History & highlights
The club is a registered association, Lippischer Golfclub e.V. Blomberg-Cappel. In April 2023 it brought in a start-time rule at the 10th tee: between 8 am and 6 pm, groups with a booked time there have priority over groups coming through from the 9th, and players who miss their slot have to wait and fit in with the flow of play.
A giant oak said to be 1,000 years old is one of the sights that catches your eye on the round.
The valley setting means few flat stances. Uneven lies are a big part of the challenge here.
Holes follow the edge of a stream and run past forest clearings and high woodland, with water hazards and wild habitat in play.
Tips for first-timers
- Avoid Mondays unless you are playing with a member. The office and restaurant are closed that day, too.
- If your German DGV card carries the gold “R” hologram, the day green fee is noticeably cheaper (60 € instead of 80 € on weekdays).
- Golfers from the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region can use the OWL weekday rate of 40 €, which includes the range fee.
- Students, pupils and apprentices up to 27 pay half the day green fee once they show ID.
- Book a start time at the 10th tee if you are starting there between 8 am and 6 pm.
- Keep your green fee ticket clearly visible on your bag, because marshals check.
