Overview
Stellenbosch Golf Club is the 4th oldest golf club in South Africa, and it celebrated its centenary in 2004. It sits at the foot of the Helderberg mountains on the outskirts of Stellenbosch, the winelands town that is also home to one of the country's most respected universities.
The championship parkland course meanders through large trees that frame most holes, so every hole feels distinct. Although it's close to town, some holes are bordered by the area's typical vineyards, while others open up to sweeping views of the mountains and town. The course has hosted some of South Africa's biggest tournaments, including the 1999 South African Open and 5 South African Masters.
Facilities include a pro shop, a practice range a short walk from the clubhouse with a kiosk and a coaching studio, and a clubhouse with a raised balcony overlooking the course where lunch is served. Rental sets, carts, pull trolleys and caddies are available, and there's even a car wash while you play.
