Overview
Diamond Country Club in Atzenbrugg, in the Tullnerfeld area of Lower Austria, calls itself Austria’s only European Tour Destination. It has hosted Austria’s European Tour event 11 times, and with 45 holes it is the largest golf resort in the country.
The centrepiece is the 18-hole Diamond Course, a championship layout originally designed by Jeremy Pern and played around a 10-hectare lake. It is known for its excellent condition, well-placed bunkers, very fast greens and dramatic water hazards. Miguel Ángel Jiménez personally helped redesign one of its doglegs, and after flooding in autumn 2024 Olazábal Design renovated the course, redesigning holes 1, 2 and 6 and switching the bunkers to the Durabunker system. The course record is 63, set by Matthias Schmid in 2019.
The second 18, the Gold Course, grew out of the former Country Course and was redesigned by Olazábal Design. Its inner nine run through mature trees, water comes into play on seven holes, and the greens are gently contoured. The family-friendly 9-hole Park Course is ideal for beginners and after-work golf, and children up to 14 play there for free.
Off the course there is a driving range and pitching and putting areas, the MW Golf Academy led by Melanie Wolkersberger with TrackMan analysis and a Titleist fitting centre, free taster courses every 14 days, and a 42-room golf hotel. The Clubhouse restaurant serves Lower Austrian inn cooking, while the Boathouse on the water offers tapas, Mediterranean dishes and cocktails in summer.

History & highlights
The club was registered in 1999, and Jeremy Pern laid out a 36-hole complex on the Tullnerfeld. In 2009 heavy storms flooded the course, and the Guzy family took it over, renamed it Diamond Country Club and invested heavily in the clubhouse and a new driving range. Christian Guzy senior had long sketched ideas for improving holes after his rounds, and believed the flooded courses could become an international venue.
In 2010 the club stepped in at short notice to host Austria’s European Tour event, won by José Manuel Lara. Bernd Wiesberger won the Lyoness Open here in 2012 with a brilliant back nine, Joost Luiten won in 2013 and Chris Wood in 2015, ahead of Rafa Cabrero-Bello and Matthew Fitzpatrick. In 2018 the course staged the world premiere of the Shot Clock Masters, won by Mikko Korhonen, and in 2020 it hosted one of the first professional events of the pandemic era. John Catlin won the Austrian Golf Open in 2021. The club celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024.
Many holes on the Diamond Course play around the central lake, including the water where John Daly famously threw his club during a European Tour round.
Miguel Ángel Jiménez, 21-time European Tour winner, personally redesigned one of the course’s classic doglegs to make it more demanding.
Since the post-2024 renovation, the Diamond Course bunkers use the Durabunker system, which the club expects to make them the best in Austria.
