Overview
Golf Areál Luby is a friendly, family-style golf venue in the village of Luby in the far west of the Czech Republic, close to the spa town of Františkovy Lázně and the German border. The famous West Bohemian spa triangle of Františkovy Lázně, Karlovy Vary and Mariánské Lázně is within easy reach, which makes Luby a quiet stop for golfers touring the region on the edge of the Ore Mountains.
The course has 9 holes with a par of 70 and is open to the public. The club says it suits beginners, who enjoy the relaxed and peaceful setting, as well as experienced players looking for a range of challenges.
For practice and coaching there is a driving range, a putting green and a chipping green, and club hire is available. A PRO trainer teaches everything from the basics to advanced technique, so it is a good place to start the game or work on your swing.
After the round, the clubhouse is the place for a coffee, a good meal or something stronger, and it has full changing facilities with showers for hot days. The club’s well-known restaurant focuses on Czech cooking with some international dishes, and a newly built guesthouse offers rooms on site. The venue also hosts weddings and company events.

History & highlights
Golf Club Luby was founded in 1994 and is one of the 22 oldest golf clubs in the Czech Republic. It is a full member of the Czech Golf Federation. The club rents the course from the operator, Golf Areál Luby-Schönbach s.r.o., which gives members use of the whole site for all golf activities.
In 2014 the club held its first season-long competition to mark its 20th anniversary. Players liked it so much that the EKLEKTIK competition is now held every year: across selected tournaments from May to October, each player’s best score on every hole counts, and non-members can take part once they have played at least 3 tournaments at Luby.
